Lonestar -- One of the best Country bands of the current decade, their
popularity has been huge, with 9 #1 Country songs, their first 8 on their
From There To Here: Greatest Hits: "No News," "Come Cryih' To Me,"
"Amazed," "Smile," "What About Now," "Tell Her," "I'm Already There,"
"My Front Porch Lookin' In." Most greatest hits have the popular hits
from previous albums, with a few new unreleased tracks. 3 new tracks were
included here, and one of them was a #1 hit, "My Front Porch Lookin' In."
The others are "I Pray" (nice ballad) and a remake of Marc Cohn's song
about Elvis, "Walking In Memphis."
NOTE: The version of the #1 "Amazed" is a different version from
the band's original album the song came from -- Lonely Grill. The
Lonely Grill version is my preferred choice.
The other non-#1's are very Country-ish, easily fitting today's Country
formats. "Tequlia Talkin'," "Runnin' Away With My Heart," "You Walked In,"
"Everything's Changed," "With Me," "Not A Day Goes By." The bonus track,
"I'm Already There (Message From Home)" includes taped messages from
family members hoping their relatives' safe return from the current Iraqi war.
A great introduction for those first learning about Country band Lonestar.
Their harmonies are great, as well as their vocal abilities. Many #1's to their
credit, and a few new songs unreleased, making it tougher for the true Lonestar
fans, who just may have all of their original albums. Rascal Flatts fans will
also enjoy Lonestar's music. All in all, it's a great intro to a Country act
well-liked, and still continuing recording great songs, and more #1's to come.
