Legebd, His RCA Country Legends captures his #1 hits and others that
made him a milestone in Country music. It's amazing that he had 29 #1 songs
on the Country chart; there isn't one compilation containing ALL 29 songs,
but this assortment is a very good introduction to those wanting to learn of
Pride's music.
His 12 number one hits are here: "All I Have To Offer (Is Me)," "(I'm So)
Afraid Of Losing You Again," "Is Anybody Goin' To San Antoine" (written by
Doug Sahm), "Wonder Could I Live There Anymore," "I'd Rather Love You,"
"I'm Just Me." The one song that everyone remembers from Charley Pride --
"Kiss An Angel Good Morning," "It's Gonna Take A Little Longer," "Somebody
Loves You Honey," the Hank Williams Sr. tune "Honky Tonk Blues,"
"Never Been So Loved (In All My Life)" and the song most remembered by
Johnny Rivers -- "Mountain Of Love."
The remaining songs are just as legendary as the others -- the definite
Country title "Does My Ring Hurt Your Finger," Ray Charles'
"Busted," "Snakes Crawl At Night," and "Mississippi Cotton-Pickin'
Delta Town." They all have the common Charley Pride country style, where

this set is a good introduction to the music of Country Legend Charley Pride.
Many of these songs should ring memory bells for those who enjoyed his music
during his prime. And throughout the decades that followed, Pride has been
the only black performer to be successful in Country music. Charley Pride IS
a Legend; this is a good CD to listen to, and acquaint/reacquaint his music.
