I cannot recall the music of country artist T.G. Sheppard while I was growing up. He would achieve 14 number 1 Country hits to his name, from 1975 to 1986. Unfortunately, there really isn't a compilation where all 14 #1s are contained. (Probably the reason, is that his #1 hits were on two record labels, Warner Bros. and Columbia.) His Finally: The Best Of T.G. Sheppard compilation contains 10 of his #1's.

All 10 songs are exceptional, displaying his laid-back approach style in Country music. "Devil In The Bottle" (1975) would be his first #1, and it is one of the 10 songs here. His 2nd #1 is also on this compilation, "Tryin' To Beat The Morning Home" (1975). His next #1 came in 1979, "Last Cheaters Waltz." 1980 saw his 4th #1, "I'll Be Coming Back For More."

Two more #1's would follow (they do not appear on this compilation; they can be found on his Super Hits compilation and Smooth Sailin' "I Loved 'Em Every One" (1981) appears here, likewise "Party Time" (1981), "Only One You" (1982), and "Finally" (1982).

Again, two more #1's followed in Sheppard's career, not in this compilaiton (but can be found on his Super Hits compilation. "Slow Burn" (1984) and "Strong Heart" (1986) are on the Finally compilation.

14 #1 songs, yet only 10 of them appear on Finally: The Best Of T.G. Sheppard. Although some of the #1's from this compilation, and his other #1's (and other hits) appear on his Super Hits compilation. Only one song is left out, which appears on his Smooth Sailin' album. (Luckily, Smooth Sailin' was recently reissued on CD.) Finally is a good set in discovering Sheppard's music. He is still performing to this day, and every once in a while, he releases a new album. His most recent album, Timeless, is a set of songs from the Big Band era.
