Before Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac
originated from Mick Fleetwood and John McVie, with Peter Grown and Jeremy
Spencer. The Original Fleetwood Mac features the Blues, soulful and
energetic. It's music is not familiar with those favored by Nicks and McVie.
Late 1960s blues.
"Drifitng" starts out the album, a very good course of soulful
blues. "Leaving Town Blues" has a somewhat slow blues style, yet the
vocals could be improved. "Watch Out" returns to the traditional 1960s
blues, it's a great song, soulful vocals, and Clapton-ish guitar, or even the
blues of Savoy Brown.
"A Fool No More" is a great slow blues number, and it's easily
seen how Gary Moore was an inspiration on
Blues For Greeny, an album
dedicated to Peter Green. "Mean Old Fireman" has the grit blues of
John Lee Hooker. "Can't Afford To Do It" has a great boogie-woogie
Stray Cats feel.
An instrumental, the song "Fleetwood Mac" has an early Clapton/Cream
style, and the harmonica makes the icing on the cake. Another great slow
blues song is the next track, "Worried Dream." Throughout this album,
Peter Green's vocals is truly amazing, likewise his guitar playing.
"Love That Woman" has the Muddy Waters vocal style, and is another
great blues number. "Allow Me One More Show" is another John Lee Hooker
soounding tune of early blues. "First Train Home" is another great song,
based on the blues guitar style alone. Peter Green's vocals brings it out
even more. "Rambling Pony No. 2" is simply Cream's "Rollin' And
Tumblin'"; another great blues track.
If anyone who has never heard the blues, the original Fleetwood Mac is a
good start, in learning the blues music. John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters,
Savoy Brown, B.B. King, Gary Moore are all compared on The Original Fleetwood
Mac. Discovering great blues music is highly anticipated after listening
