    "Human Clay"

Creed debuts on WSVNRadio, with the second album of their career, and considered their breakthrough release, Human Clay. It would hit #1 on the album chart, likewise from it, a #1 song -- "With Arms Wide Open." But probably what launched their breakthrough success was the rocking song, "Higher." Alternative Rock best describes their music, as lead singer Scott Stapp provides great vocals, on hard rocking songs as well as the ballads.

Focusing on more of a harder Alternative Rock sound, there are quite a few rockers on Human Clay. Hate to say it, but most of the opening tracks kinda sound the same: "Are You Ready," "Beautiful," "Say I." "What If" starts out as if it was a ballad, but kicks in the Alternative Rock style heard in previous (and afterward) songs. Also, starting out slower in sound, yet having the Alternative Rock style, is "Faceless Man."

A mysterious touch as the listener's interests on songs "Wrong Way" and "Never Die." The #1 hit "With Arms Wide Open" is a complete 180, being a slow ballad, and quite frankly, one of two songs definitely the best from this album.

The other best song is "Higher" -- a song that definitely has its sound compared to other songs from this release. "Walk Away Those Tears" and "Inside Us All" both are slow-driven tunes, yet all in the Alternative fold.

Human Clay is a fairly good album as a whole. Many of the songs do tend to sound the same, yet Scott Stapp's vocals blends well with the Alternative rock style. "Higher" and "With Arms Wide Open" are the standouts. This album for the true Alternative hard rock fan will be enjoyed more thoroughly. As for the rest of us music lovers, it just may take repeated listens. The album isn't bad, certain kinds of music you have to be in the mood for, or just keep listening to it, and experiencing different sounds of music that one may not be familiar with.
