    "Pat Metheny Group"

Pat Metheny returns to WSVNRadio.net, with the 1978 self-titled Pat Metheny Group. This album is one of those albums that you can easily listen to while relaxing, working, or just wanting to enjoy listening to a nice, smooth album. 1978 was the year for this release, and the first as the group name of Pat Metheny Group.

Only six songs on this album, as most are over 5-10 minutes in length. A truly exceptional album in the style of Smooth Jazz, upon reading reviews (from Amazon) regarding this album, I can easily agree of what they claim of two songs being the most standout recordings, that being the first two tracks: "San Lorenzo" and "Phase Dance." These songs, (as well as "Jaco" and "April Joy") all have the great Smooth Jazz sound, easily fitting Metheny's style of music here. "Aprilwind" is the shortest song (little over two minutes), as it has a upbeat Rock with Jazz feel, and the closing song, "Lone Jack" is very fast-paced Smooth Jazz, and would be interesting to watch the band perform this song. Although it maybe the least favorite of the six songs here, watching a song as difficult in a fast-pacing style would be interesting to view.

Overall, the Pat Metheny Group is an excellent assortment of classic Smooth Jazz compositions. And, being superior in sound, the listener would be curious to observe and want to listen to more of the music of Pat Metheny, whether on his own, his "group" or other projects involved.
