Steven Curtis Chapman "All About Love"
Steven Curtis Chapman, like Michael W. Smith, is a great Christian artist. The amazing thing about both Smith and
Chapman, is that they have achieved many #1 albums on the Christian charts, but has yet to have a #1 Christian song.
(On Billboard magazine's Christian charts.) Yet having said that, they have always provided the positive messages
in their Christian songs. Steven Curtis Chapman debuts this week on WSVNRadio, with his 2001 release, All About
Love. As the title states, each track is a love song. Upon reading reviews, it seemed that Chapman never had an
album consistent of just love songs, other than the love for Christ, and Christian themes, as most Christian bands and
artists sing and write.
All About Love is not only about love songs, but also other types of music. Of course, there is the common
Christian Rock sound, as heard on "You've Got Me" and "Moments Made For Worshipping." A medium tempo
Christian sound are heard on others: "How Do I Love Her," and "Holding A Mystery." The same can be said for
"11-6-64" - however this song has an almost Country feel to it.
For a more Rock feel, the first two tracks from this album fits this mold - the title track, and "Your Side Of
The World." Moderate, yet enjoyable, are "With Every Little Kiss," "Miracle Of You," and "We Belong
Together (Tarzan And Jane)." There are some very nice ballads here, (another common style for Christian artists):
"Echoes Of Eden," "We Will Dance," and the last track, "When Love Takes You In."
"I Will Be Here" (the wedding classic) easily fits the Lite Rock format, and an interesting song is "I'll
Take Care Of You," where it sounds more of a early crooner style, like Michael Buble, and even the collaborations of
Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach. There is one remake track - The Proclaimers hit, "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)."
A very enjoyable album, with the topic of love in each song, Steven Curtis Chapman's All About Love is a
rewarding entourage of good music. No doubt his Christian themed albums are as equally exceptional. WSVNRadio debuted
their USTREAM live internet radio station with the music of Steven Curtis Chapman in 2010. Take a journey down Chapman
Boulevard, and enjoy the many positive songs Steven Curtis Chapman provides. More of his music will follow here to be
reviewed on WSVNRadio, just as Michael W. Smith, and other artists who have reached #1 on Billboard's Christian
