    "No Angel"

When Enimem had his hit with "Stan," the song was mesmerizing. Even so, the female voice heard in the song was what everyone wanted to know. Who was the female voice? It belonged to Dido Florian Cloud de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong, born in London on Christmas Day in 1971. Yes, her real first name is Dido, although on her birth certificate it states her name, minus Dido. She explained that Florian is a German man's name. "To be called one thing and christened another is actually very confusing and annoying. It's one of the most irritating things that my parents did to me... Florian is a German man's name. That's just mean. To give your child a whole lot of odd names. They were all so embarrassing... I thought it was cruel to call me Dido and then expect me to just deal with it."

The "Stan" song by Enimen featured the chorus of Dido's "Thank You" -- a song from her debut album, No Angel, released in 1999. The Eninem song was a huge hit in 2001; Dido performed in Enimen's video portraying his pregnant girlfriend. and when performed on the Grammy Awards, Elton John appeared on stage with Eninem, singing the chorus that was previously heard by Dido.

Dido's No Angel has been compared to the likes of singers such as Sarah McLaughlin, Fiona Apple, Sinead O'Connor, Kate Bush, and (what I noticed) Alanis Morrisette. There is even a little resemblence of a future singing star, Adele.

Songs such as "Here With Me," "Hunter," resembles the most of Alanis. "Here With Me" can also be compared to Enigma's music. "My Lover's Gone" and "All You Want" defines some very nice pleasant Pop. The album's so-called title track, "I'm No Angel" is also Pop, and catchy. The future star Adele has these two songs, "Don't Think Of Me" and the bonus track, "Take My Hand."

The remaining songs left have a different sound, as I try to decipher what kind of music style. Especially on "Honestly OK" -- Is it a touch of New Wave? Maybe Punk? Laurie Anderson's "O Superman" kind of takes the stand on this particular track. It doesn't sound like Laurie, just has a different sounding atmosphere. "Slide" also has an odd sound, almost like a song by Sade. "Isobel" is also "odd" as well.

Without a doubt, No Angel by Dido is quite interesting music to listen to. It's Pop, it's pleasant, it's good music to work by, and relax to.

Since her debut album in 1999 (No Angel), she has released 3 more albums. Here recent album was released in 2013, Girl Who Got Away. No Angel is considered her best album, as we haven't really heard any popular songs from her two albums in 2003 (Life For Rent) and 2008 (Safe Trip Home). Although No Angel is considered her finest album, it's probably the only album you would find in a music fan's collection. Unless of course, you are a die-hard fan of Dido, and I'm sure her music is much more popular ih her home country of England.
