"Wreck Of The Day"
Once again, the Goodwill Collection has chosen another artist, Anna Nalick, and her debut album released In 2004, Wreck Of The Day. From her debut,
"Breathe (2 AM)" was her first radio hit, where it hit on Billboard's Hot 100, and was even a bigger hit on Adult Contemporary and Adult Top 40.
I have never heardof this song, nor of the name and music of Anna Nalick. Yet, Wreck Of The Day does provide a great assortment of Rock music.
As soon as I started listeing to "Breathe (2 AM)" two solo female artists came to mind: Alanis Morisette, and Natalie Merchant. More on the Alanis
side, this continued on the next track, "Citadel." "Paper Bag" definitely has an Alanis comparision. The title track is next, and it's a very good laid-back
pleasant styled song, as another female artist comparison is added to both Alanis and Natalie - Jewel.
And if Taylor Swift decided to be a true Rock & Roll artist, she may just sound like Anna on "Satellite." Again, it's more compared to that of Alanis,
yet somehow the softer singing could relate to that of Taylor Swift. "Forever Love (Digame)" has a slight jazz-tinged flavor, as heard from another female
artist, Norah Jones. "In The Rough" is another good Rock track, and the piano stands out on "In My Head," another good (Alanis) and impressive song.
"Bleed" is another impressive Rock tune, in good Rock style. "Catalyst" is beautiful, pleasant, easy. Ending the album in true rock form, is
"Consider This."
Being compared to the likes of Alanis Morisette, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, and Norah Jones is quite an accomplishment. Yet Anna Nalick is compared more to that of
Alanis, Wreck Of The Day is a true great Rock album. It easily fits the Rock and Alternative Rock formats. Anna has released a total of four albums, and an
EP. Her most recent album was released in 2019.
As the last track, "Consider This" -- Consider Anna Nalick's Wreck Of The Day. No Wrecks anywhere on this album. Every track is good. Good Rock.
For the common Rock/Alternative Rock fan, this album will be enjoyed, and will consider repeated listens. Finding another treasure from the Goodwill Collection
again -- That treasured gem is Anna Nalick, and her debut album, Wreck Of The Day.
