Cheetah - a band consisting of two female singers/sisters (Lyndsay Hammond and Chrissie Hammond). They were from
Melbourne, Australia. They only released one album, Rock And Roll Women, released in 1982. The Australian version
of America's Ann and Nancy Wilson (also sisters) of Heart)? The answer is YES! These girls absolutely ROCKED!
"Bang Bang" definitely leads the album with as a solid BANG. Their hard rock sound on this song could be compared
to another band from Australia, AC/DC (Bon Scott). "Bang Bang" was one of the album's singles. "Suffering
Love" starts out soulful, and leads into another hard rocking song. It also has a similar sound to another all-female
band, The Runaways. Having a hard rock album, you have to have a slow sounding song, and "Spend The Night" starts
out that way, but it upbeats into a solid Rock track. "Rock 'N' Roll Woman" is pure Rock & Roll! And the Hammond
sisters keep rockin' it on "Scars Of Love." "My Man" rocks it even more!
And yes, "N.I.T.E." keeps that hard rock groove going... Very Heart'ish, hard rocking styled. "Come And
Get It" -- yes, come and get (more) hard rock! "Let The Love Begin" is another Rock tune, not as hard, but
still, it's another great Rock & Roll song. "I'm Yours" returns to the hard rock, all in great form. "Love You
To The Limit" is a bonus track, and it's another great rocker, having a "Louie Louie" feel here and there.
Cheetah gives Heart a run for the money, with their hard rock sound. You could probably say that Cheetah rocks harder
than Heart. (They rock as evenly in sound as AC/DC.) Every song on Rock And Roll Women proves that the Hammond
sisters are truly ROCK AND ROLL WOMEN. Rock & Roll at it's hardest and finest is all here. Also to mention the band behind
Cheetah - Ian Miller (lead guitar), Ronnie Peel (rhythm guitar), Les Karski (bass), Mike Peters (keyboards), and Ray Arnott
(drums). I'm sure they're all AUstralian musicians. Cheetah's band definitely gives the Hammond sisters a great sound for
the hard rock they all provide. With only one album, there were a few non-tracks recorded. This could have been added as
other bonus tracks: "Love Ain't Easy To Come By"/Shake It To The Right," "Walking In The Rain," "Deeper Than Love."
Four singles were from Rock And Roll Women: "Spend The Night," "Love You To The Limit," (which wasn't
originally released on the album), "Bang Bang," and "My Man/Come And Get It."
If you're a fan of female rock bands, such as Heart and The Runaways, prepare to hear great Rock & Roll on the album
Rock And Roll Women by Cheetah. Lyndsay and Chrissie Hammond rock it out at their finest, and you'll be amazed and
impressed on how they can Rock. Chrissie Hammond would record with Rick Wakeman, as Lyndsay Hammond would record a solo
album. Cheetah reformed in 2006 to perform in the Countdown Spectacular (a series of concerts reviving the nostalgia
of the Australian music television series Countdown, which ran for 14 seasons), and a subsequent tour.
