    "Still Standing"

From the WSVNRadio Hall Of Fame ...

The Christian Rock band Sweet Crystal participated on The WSVNRadio Hall of Fame, Volume 15, and this band from Dearborn, Michigan, certainly has the potential to become one of Christian Music's biggest names. After listening to their first album Still Standing, they can be compared to such bands as the classic rock band of the 1970s, Kansas, and one of my true favorite bands of the 1980s, Survivor.

The opening track has a great theatrical and powerful approach: "Do You Believe In Love" can also be compared to the progressive solo works of another favorite artist of mine, Rick Wakeman. "Soldiers Of The Crown" has a very energetic feel, where "When I Think Of You" starts out very pleasant, as heard on some of Emerson, Lake & Palmer tunes, yet it kicks into another energetic and powerful rock style.

"This Way Forever" is a great ballad, "Messiah Song" has a more progressive rock feel. "In God We Trust" was the song chosen for the WSVNRadio Hall of Fame CD, and is very powerful in sound and lyrics. "No Two Masters" has the potential of being a crossover hit, being popular on both the Christian and Pop singles charts; a nice ballad, compared to those of Survivor. "In Your Name" has the great progressive sound, the live recording "Stand Up And Shout" has a powerful rock sound style.

Rick Wakeman's solo music comes to mind on the beautifully arranged instrumental "Looking Back." The closing tune "Ominicity" is another very powerful progressive sounding song, and has a great action movie soundtrack feel.

Led by Marq Andrew Speck, with fellow members Bill Blatter and Steve Wieser, Sweet Crystal is a force to be reckoned with. Still Standing... is a great album, and its amazing how independent artists are as talented as this band. Check out their website at http://www.sweetcrystal.com for more info on this great, powerful band. The band has just released their second album. Give a listen to their music, you will not be disappointed.
