    "Wildflowers"

Genie was one of the many artists WSVNRadio promoted on their Hall of Fame Series. Particularly, Volume 14. Her album Wildflowers was released in 2003. Definitely Christian-themed, Genie's music is quite entertaining, especially for the quiet atmospheres. The gentle pianos and her soft singing voice makes this album a very good relaxer, and for meditation. Her singing voice can be compared to another Christian artist, Amy Grant. Especially on Grant's soft-vocal tracks. Another artist that gets a slight comparison on some songs would be Alanis Morrisette. Genie's music is definitely entertaining, peaceful, relaxing. And musically, another artist comes to mind -- Enya ("Sailing Angel").

There are 24 tracks total on Wildflowers. There are 10 tracks that are "duplicated" -- Vocals versions and Instrumental versions. There is only one instrumental track, "Sailing Angel and the short spoken word piece, "Trees".

The title track (vocal version) of Wildflowers (For Grandmother) was selected for the WSVNRadio Hall of Fame, Volume 14 compilation. This song, as well many of the soft-vocal tracks are quite relaxing to listen and enjoy to. "Quiet Place" does have a haunting atmosphere, as Alanis Morissette gets the compare. Alanis also gets the comparison on later tracks, "I'll Always Love You," and "Lora."

As for the remaining vocal tracks, they are all quite peaceful and beautiful listening, and Amy Grant'ish: "Someday," "Undying Love (For Mom And Dad)," "Ariel," "You Steal My Heart Away," "I Love You More Than Life, "Streams In The Desert."

The instrumentals are just beautiful. Many instrumental artists come to mind, such as Enya, Yanni, and Rick Wakeman. For the Classical music fans, these are right up their alleys. Check out the Enya'ish "Quiet Place" for starters, just beautiful, haunting, excellent. All the songs were written by Genie and her husband, Troy Nilsson. All of the album's profits went to charity. Both Genie and Troy have their own individual albums, including a Christmas one.

You can label her as Christian, Classical, and even New Age Jazz. Wildflowers is a relaxing, spiritual album. Take a listen, relax and enjoy. This is as peaceful and calm as you can get.
